About me.
Yes I know, great surname!
I’m a self-taught painter living in a vibrant Hertfordshire market town. For the past few years I’ve started to try and capture the colour, texture and tone of views, flowers and plants that surround me. I generally work in acrylic as I find it pretty versatile - you can water it down or thicken it up and because it dries quickly it makes me work confidently.
I’m a fan of modern artists such as O’Keeffe and Hockney with their bold strokes and vivid colour. My favourite artist is however Pierre Bonnaire who managed to capture the magic of glimpsed views and turn them into a world to get lost in (well, that’s my take on it!).
Slowly, I’m starting to sell small pieces, mostly framed postcard sized originals and prints. You can usually find these on sale inside the Visit Hitchin shop. If you fancy commissioning something do get in touch.
In the Summer of 2025 I set up Big Whale Art, a mobile art workshop company providing mobile art workshops and lessons.
